What's the word that fits the three sentences?

'The film was so gripping that it ........ my interest from start to finish.'

'She once ........ some shares in the company but now they are worthless.'

'Police ........ the man suspected of murder for further questioning.'

Well, I agree with Paula. HOLD seems to be the right one, although I'm not really sure...

Thanks for the participation, Nathalie, Paula and Claudio!

The verb that collocates with 'my interest','some shares' and 'a suspect' is HOLD but the sentences are in the past(The film was ... She once ...), so the correct answer is HELD.
